SITE: The Meet will be held in Tacoma, Washington at the Foss Waterway Seaport. This should really be a great venue. The facility is located at the foot of Tacoma's downtown core at the north end of the Thea Foss Waterway in the restored Balfour Dock building. This makes it within walking distance of lodgings, restaurants, and shops. Modern FREE moorage will be available for steamboaters at the visitors dock right out front. BOAT LAUNCHING Three methods of boat launching are now available: stradle/sling crane and two trailer ramps. If you are planning on bringing a boat we NEED to approximately schedule your in/out times for the sling/cradle. One trailer launch is at Point Defiance Park - which is a looooong way from the Meet site. We have arranged for tows for those who do not want to steam over. Trailer parking will be available. A second trailer boat launch, MUCH closer to the Meet - but somewhat more restricted, is now also available. NWSS Launch Schedule should be downloaded, filled out, and submitted as soon as possible.

EVENTS: The Balfour Dock building has extensive facilities and it is believed that our dining events will be held there. There's plenty of protected cruising on the waterway and I'm sure there'll be some sort of "steamboat parade" so get those costumes cleaned, mended, ready. But to make these happen Tom and Sterling need "helpers". Contact either of them with ideas or offers of help.

RV PARKING: There will be some sort of RV parking available at or near the Meet site. No firm information is available at this time.

LODGING: Tacoma is part of the Greater Puget Sound Tourist Area, so you should make your reservation early to assure having a place to lay your head. The Best Western (very close to the Meet site) has set 15 units aside for us at a special rate of $ 79/night. They also have a shuttle to the Seaport.

    • From I–5, take the "City Center/Tacoma Dome" exit #133
    • Merge onto I–705 and follow the signs for Schuster Parkway
    • After you exit to Schuster Parkway, you will turn right at the light (4th Street Bridge)
    • After crossing the bridge, the road turns to the south again and becomes Dock Street
    • The Seaport is in the Balfour Dock building (705 Dock Street), which is the second building on the left
    • Free parking in the lot directly adjacent to the north end of the Seaport. A pay lot is located next door if the free spaces are full. Both lots are monitored.
